Aims and Background
Our aim is to bring top quality wine consultancy services to the China market. As Beijing-based consultants we are ideally located to provide local and national advice for the China trade as well as international wine companies. As specialists in wine education and professional tasting since 1999, we also combine over ten years experience in higher education having taught at both Cambridge and Tsinghua Universities.

BRIEF BIOS


Fongyee Walker
is Beijing’s only Recommended Tutor and Examiner for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET www.wsetglobal.com) and is mainland China's only Master of Wine candidate (www.mastersofwine.org).
  • She is the official translator into Chinese of WSET’s Foundation course, gives regular bilingual (Chinese-English) wine seminars and is a WSET Diploma holder.
  • A former Captain of the Cambridge University Varsity Wine Tasting Team, Walker won ‘Top Taster’ in 2004’s Oxford-Cambridge Wine Tasting Match (http://www.cubwts.co.uk/).
  • A dedicated wine educator, she has also taught at Cambridge and Tsinghua Universities as well as judging at London’s International Wine Challenge and the Shanghai International Wine Challenge.
  • Walker is co-author (with Edward Ragg) of the ‘Sinophile’ wine column for The World of Fine Wine Magazine (www.finewinemag.com), the Grape Press column for The Beijinger (originally known as That’s Beijing) and The Cambridge University Guide to Blind Wine Tasting (2006).
  • Her wine journalism in Chinese includes spots in The Financial Times’s new Chinese magazine FT Rui, financial newspaper Caijing Ribao and Fine Wine & Liquor, among other publications.
  • Walker is also a blind-taster for Food & Wine China and Wine in China magazines.
Edward Ragg
is brother to Michael Ragg, who runs Burgundy negociant Mischief & Mayhem (www.mischiefandmayhem.com) with Michael Twelftree of Two Hands Wines (www.twohandswines.com).
  • He is a former Captain and Coach of the Cambridge University Varsity Wine Tasting Team (http://www.cubwts.co.uk/) and has taught at both Cambridge and Tsinghua Universities.
  • Edward holds the WSET Advanced Certificate, the Society of Wine Educators’ CSW (www.societyofwineeducators.org) and the Introductory Certificate from The Court of Master Sommeliers (www.courtofmastersommeliers.org).
